What Is the Rank of Erection Tablets among the Methods of the Cure of Potency Disturbances?

Nowadays there exist 5 groups of methods of the cure of erection disturbances:

Psychotherapy and sex therapy, which is used only in the so called psychologically associated or psychogenic ED, or, less frequently, as an auxiliary method in somatic or organic ED.

Administration of tablet medications or tablets for erection: Viagra, Cialis, Levitra. Used as a medication of the first choice (first line of therapy) in all the forms of organic ED, regardless its reasons.

Injection pharmacotherapy or �erection on request�. It is used as the second therapy line of all the forms of ED in the cases when tablets for erection have no effect, or when its use is contra indicative. Tablets for erection and injection to the penis of vaso dilators may be used together, as a variant of a combined therapy of ED.

Vacuum-erector therapy or use of vacuum-erectors of various models and modifications for obtaining and retention of erection. It is a version of the second therapy line of organic and, less frequently, of psychogenic forms of ED. Nowadays it is used less and less frequently because of negative response of the patients to use this method. It is due to the fact that erection induced by this method is of no good quality, it is possible to retain the penis in the state of erection with the help of a setting end not more than 20 minutes, also the satisfaction of sex partners from the results of the application of this method is not high.

Surgical methods of treatment: vascular surgery of penis and falloprothesis. The first group of interventions is divided into vein surgery (decreasing of vein reflux) and arteries one (increasing of artery afflux) of the penis. Vein surgery may be effectively applied in some cases of ED, especially together with erection tablets. Artery surgery is inefficient and is applied less and less frequently. Falloprothesis is the most effective and heroic method out of all kinds of ED treatment, the only method which gives full recovery of organic ED. Surgical methods, as a rule, are used only in such cases of organic ED when a conservative therapy has had no effect.

Thus, erection tablets are first line therapy from which at most the treatment of any form of ED starts. Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are the only available tablet medications having real effectiveness in ED treatment in the world nowadays. Effectiveness of other advertised tablets is, as a rule, fabled by their producers (and not proved at all) and is no different from a pacifier.

How erection tablets work? To what extent they are harmful? Does habituation to erection tablets develop? What are side effects and contraindications? What are well-known drug interactions?

Viagra, Cialis and Levitra have absolutely similar mechanism of action and selectively influence on the potency of a special ferment resulting in laxation of unstiated muscles of cavernous bodies of the penis. It results in much more quantity of blood rushing to the penis, which evokes erection.

Medications of this group act selectively in vascular tissue of the penis and are practically harmless. They do not provoke persistent negative after-effects with long and regular intakes. No addiction to erection tablets is developing. Only a purely psychological dependability may occur. Once testing an erection tablet, and having experienced its significantly better quality, and having felt a lost lustiness, a man, sometimes, does not want to give up Viagra, Cialis or Levitra.

Frequency of the occurrence of side effects depends on a dose of medication and on an individual sensibility. It also depends on food acceptance before taking erection tablets. If the stomach is full both the frequency of side effects and efficiency of medications are lesser.

Absolute contraindication to erection tablets is their intolerance (allergy) and a simultaneous intake of organic nitrates (Nitroglycerin, Sustak, Nitrong, Nitrosorbidum, Erinite etc.) With simultaneous intake of erection tablets and organic nitrates may occur a fatal fall of arterial blood pressure. Very undesirable and potentially dangerous is to administer erection tablets to patients with the following diagnoses:

-cardio ischemia with frequent attacks of substernal pains

-stagnant insufficiency of the heart and substantial fall of arterial blood pressure.

-Substantial decrease of cardiac output

-complicated mixed drug therapy of hypertonic disease

-drug therapy which can slow down excretion of FDE inhibitors from the body

Described fatality cases connected with the use of Viagra are conditioned, most probably, by use of the medication together with organic nitrates

The efficiency of erection tablets taken together with man�s sex hormones (testosterone) will be substantially better.

What is the efficiency of erection tablets and can one fully be recovered from ED with their help?

Efficiency of PDE5 inhibitors in various forms of ED, according to the data of clinical studies, is from 60 to 85%. The tablets have to be taken before each sex intercourse, i.e. if one takes a tablet--the erection will be improved, without a tablet the erection will be the same as it have been before the start of the treatment. Recently there has appeared information, that a regular daily intake of a comparatively small doses of erection tablets during not lesser than 12 weeks gives a certain curative effect, i.e. it improves the quality of proper natural erections. PDE5 inhibitors are used together with man�s sex hormones, injections to the penis of vaso dilators, surgery to decrease vein reflux from the penis for intensification of the effect.
