Preventing And Treating Hemorrhoid Yourself

By:

Anyone who suffers from hemorrhoid will tell you that it's chronic. No one knows for sure what causes hemorrhoid. There are smart guesses though. Some believe hemorrhoid to be caused by constipation, while others believe hemorrhoid to be caused by an unsuitable diet. Actually, these two guesses are connected. An inappropriate diet will lead to constipation, which in turn leads to hemorrhoid developing.

Another popular guess is that hemorrhoid is caused by sitting around too long. The implication is that the victim lacks exercise as well. We should start to see some patterns emerging here: an unhealthy lifestyle leads to hemorrhoid developing.

Hemorrhoid is not an unusual sickness. In fact, in most cases, it can hardly be termed as a sickness, except that it has some symptoms that may cause some degree of discomfort. In general, there are two types of hemorrhoid - internal and external.

If you suffer from external hemorrhoid, you may feel more pain. As for internal hemorrhoid, you can hardly feel them. But hard stool that rubs against internal hemorrhoid may cause bleeding. So when removing bowels, you may find bright red spots of blood in the toilet bowl or on the toilet paper. Fortunately, it is very rare for hemorrhoid to develop into serious medical conditions.

But if you do suffer from hemorrhoid, do not take it too lightly. Although in most cases, hemorrhoid will go away by itself over time, it is still wise to be actively seeking a solution to the problem. As mentioned earlier, hemorrhoid develops when the lifestyle is an unhealthy one. Lack of water, lack of exercise, improper diet--these are all possible causes of hemorrhoid.

So to help prevent chronic hemorrhoid, the best thing to do is to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. If your job requires you to sit in front of a computer for long hours, make sure that you take frequent breaks. Better still, go away for an hour each day to the gym to get some exercise.

In addition, drink plenty of water every day, and avoid foods that are high in cholesterol. Cholesterol building up in the body means that blood cannot flow as easily as it should. As a result, the overall condition of the body is weakened. Hence, it will be more vulnerable to sicknesses.

If you heed the advice above, you should do well in keeping hemorrhoid at bay. However, if on the rare occasion that hemorrhoid comes back, you may also choose to active treat the symptoms. Treating the symptoms will provide fast relieve for the discomfort that you are feeling. In a few days time, hemorrhoid should go away by itself. For the days that you are suffering from hemorrhoid, perhaps you may wish to try a home remedy.

It is widely believed that aloe vera gel helps relieve pain. Aloe vera is well known its healing properties. It has a naturally cooling effect that will help remove the pain for a period of time. But remember, this is only a temporary measure. Keep living a healthy lifestyle to keep all kinds of illnesses at bay. As the saying goes, "prevention is always better than cure."
