Reducing Bus-Related Accidents in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is one of America�s premier tourist destinations. Aside from having Disneyland in Anaheim, Los Angeles boasts of many other places where people can relax and enjoy sightseeing.

Because of the influx of tourist in the area, some people decided to set up companies that offer tour bus services in LA. These buses would take tourists to historic and scenic places around the county.

But, how safe are tourists riding these buses?

A study showed that bus-related accidents account only for 0.5% of vehicle-related fatalities in the nation. So, it is fairly safe to assume that buses are relatively safer than any other vehicles. Nonetheless, Los Angeles Bus Accidents should never be undermined.

Like owners of other public transport, bus operators and drivers are expected to exercise extra care and protection for their passengers. Hence, safety of the passengers is the priority concern of public transport owners and operator, including drivers.

A bus can take up huge space on roads. Drivers must carefully assess each turn and be careful in shifting lanes to avoid causing side collisions with other vehicles.

There are instances wherein a bus would cause an accident because of a flat tire, lack of breaks, and engine problems.

� Avoid standing in Buses

Passengers must remain seated to avoid the effects of sudden change in the vehicle�s speed. This would also avoid injuries caused by posts on buses which are used as hand rails.

� Drivers should be Careful in Assessing Actions

Every motorist should be careful in assessing their turns and lane shifting and always look at side mirrors to avoid accidents like roll over and side collisions.

� Maintain Distance from Other Vehicles

Bus drivers and other motorists should be careful in keeping distance. Bus breaks are not easily applied like other vehicle�s breaks. Also, this would avoid rear-end collisions.

A bus accident may be caused by several factors.
