Awesome Cell Phone Alternatives

Cellphones are growing in popularity and seemingly are everywhere. From teenagers to the elderly, a cell phone has gone from being a luxury I don't to being a standard survival device for the modern man. But not everyone needs a cell phone. For many people, the cell phone should still be considered a luxury item. If for no other reason than many people don't use cell phones for anything more than sending boring, lame and silly text messages to their friends.

The old concept that cellular phones are merely luxurious toys is now dismissed by the growing need for it. Cellular phones now became a very essential tool for everyone including parents who want to know where their kids are on a real time basis.

Thus, cellular phones of various models and designs now flood the market. Cell phones are cheap, widely available and can practically be bought at your corner Gen. Store, and small kiosks at the mall. Soon the cell phone could become a completely disposable device that is only used a few times and thrown away.

Because of this great need and want for cellular phones, manufacturers flood the market from cheap cellular phones to high-tech cellular phones. Knowing what you need and how you need it may help you find a cellular phone with reasonable and useful features. If you are to buy a cheap cellular phone, you should never expect it to perform tasks a high tech cellular phone can give.

Merely being able to send and receive calls may be enough for you to expect from your cheap cellular phone. Not everyone needs to take pictures, send text messages, surf the Internet or watch YouTube videos on the phone. After all, whatever happened to us on being used for phone calls, all things?

One option that many people sail to consider is the prepaid cell phone option. The phones themselves are not offered for free, but they offer the option to only use what you pay for. For example, you buy minutes like you would with a calling card. And when those minutes run out, you need to recharge the phone.

This could save you hundreds of dollars in the long run. Think about it, with free nights and weekends most people almost never use their 500, 600, 800 or 900 Minute a month allotment. Do you get to keep those minutes? Aside from Cingular, no other carrier supports this option. With a prepaid phone, you don't necessarily lose your minutes.

Another factor to consider is that the contract commitment. Most "free" phones are not in fact free at all. They come with a two-year contract that locks you into a particular service provider, no matter what. Unless you're willing to pay a $200 fee. At that point, you are stuck with that carrier like a bad marriage for two whole years.

Long contracts do not have to be your future, you can consider the alternatives such as prepaid cell phone options as a way to free your phone from draconian, terrible service that all wireless providers, seem hell-bent on providing.
