Prominent New York University Boasts History, Tradition and Honor

History, honor and tradition. Many colleges like to boast these elements as things that are important to attracting the right students to their campuses. New York University, or NYU, is one school that certainly has all three. NYU was founded 175 years ago by Albert Gallatin, secretary of treasury under President Thomas Jefferson. NYU now has over 40,000 students attending 14 schools at five major centers in Manhattan and in more than 25 countries around the world. NYU offers over 2,500 courses and awards more than 25 different degrees to its students. Those are some pretty nice numbers to consider when looking at a college to attend.

Many people become overwhelmed when they are trying to find a college to attend. Others simply go where their field of study is offered thats closest to home.

NYU is a school that offers several of those popular areas of study along with a great history. NYU has received numerous awards and has an excellent teacher to student ration. Parents often worry about the quality of education their child will receive while they are in college. This concern is especially prominent when those parents will be funding their childs college education. When doing research for colleges several things come into play.

One must consider first of all the number of schools that offer the chosen field of study. If your major is offered at numerous schools, then looking into accreditation or specialized programs might be important to you. Often there are certain schools that have programs in majors that the program excels in. You might have some schools that are known for their nursing program while others might be known for biochemistry. If you are looking for top notch schools in a certain field, that will definitely help narrow down your search.

Another key element when searching for a college is pricing. Of course if you are looking for a specialized program, that might increase the cost of attending a certain school. For example students that attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are going to pay a higher tuition than those students that might attend the local state university. Another factor when searching for a school is acceptance. The most prestigious schools are often the most expensive, and the hardest to get into.

Some students that have the grades and test scores to get into schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Brown might not be able to afford to attend there. The college search can have so many factors combined that its important to take everything into account. Whether youre looking for yourself or for your up coming high school graduate, these things must be considered. Finding the right school is important because that degree will be with you for the rest of your life once youve earned it. NYU is a school that offers a variety of degrees, plenty of history and excellent faculty.
